Switzerland progresses to the EURO group stage qualifiers after drama

Last night, Germany hosted Switzerland in the second leg of their EURO qualifiers match-up. Switzerland came to Ludwigsburg to defend their 4-2 lead from the first match, but it couldn't have gone without a drama!

Just like in the first match, Germans was the first one to open the scoring. Saglam put Germany in front in 7th minute, making this his second goal in this match-up. Soon after, Witting put Germans in a 2-0 lead in 12th minute. At the time, Germans were on course for the next qualifying stage.

Few minutes before half-time, Buckson scores for Switzerland and teams went into half-time with 2-1 lead for Germany on the scoreboard.

In the second half, in space of just 15 seconds, Switzerland managed to score two goals and go ahead of Germany. Buckson scored his second in the match and Gössi put himself once again on the scoreboard, after scoring two goals in the first match.

This was a signal for Germans to attack and press the Swiss with everything they got.

And they got so close. In less than 10 minutes, Germany scored three goals thanks to efforts by Zankl, Meyer and Sipahi. Scoreboard showed 5-3 in Germany's favor at that time, but during the last two minutes of the match-up Germany was unable to put one more goal in Switzerland's net that would secure them the progression.

In the end, Switzerland lost 5-3, but progressed to the EURO group stage qualifiers thanks to scoring one more goal away.

Switzerland now joins Spain, Latvia and Slovenia in qualification Group 6.
