Earlier this week, in a postponed match from Round 7, the leading team in Italy Acqua e Sapone welcomed relegation-strugglers Real San Giuseppe. In an unexpected turn of events, the visitors took all three points with them.
It was a high-scoring match and the first half ended with 3 goals in both nets. Murilo, Trentin, and Calderolli scored for Acqua e Sapone, but Alex and Rahou with two goals managed to equalize for Real just before the break.
Coco brought another lead for the home team, but then in space of 2 minutes, thanks to goals by Elisandro and Alex, Real took the lead for the first time in the match. Later on, Guedes scored for Real on an empty net to extend the lead, and all that Acqua and Sapone managed to do was to score before the final whistle to soften the blow, effort by Gui.
With this defeat, Acqua e Sapone now has the same number of played matches as their runner-ups. The closest one is Italoservice Pesaro who is lagging just one point behind with five more rounds of the regular season to go. Real San Giuseppe now escaped the immediate relegation zone, and with two games played less than most of their rivals, they will hope to squeeze into the playoff spots.
