The futsal season in Argentina is on its way! It started last night with Super Cup quarterfinal matches and as expected, there were no surprises.
Boca Juniors 3-2 G.E.V.S.
Current league champions, Boca Juniors defeated G.E.V.S., a team from Primera C, with 3-2. Boca took the 3-0 lead thanks to two goals by Franco Martínez Riveras and one by Nahuel Urriza. Lusnig and Pablo Cao scored for the Velez team in the closing phase of the match.
Newell's Old Boys 3-2 Jorge Newberry
Newell's Old Boys, who recently secured promotion to the elite division of Argentine futsal played against Jorge Newberry and won with the same result, 3-2, but with much more effort. Newell's took the 2-0 lead at the half thanks to goals by Lautaro Garcia and Martin Dorda. However, with two goals by Maximiliano Borruto, Jorge Newberry equalized the match. In the last second of the match, Augusto Van De Casteele scored for Newell's victory and the Super Cup semifinal.
Boca and Newell's will play the semifinal on Friday.
San Lorenzo 3-0 Primera Junta
San Lorenzo had a somewhat easy task as they faced the representatives of Primera D, a Primera Junta team. Damian Stazzone, Gerardo Menzeguez, and Tomas Pescio scored for San Lorenzo to secure the Super Cup semifinal.
Villa La Ñata 9-1 Camioneros de Rio Grande
Villa La Ñata had no trouble in overcoming the Camioneros team. They secured the Super Cup semifinal with a convincing 9-1 victory. Eduardo Maldonado and Sasha Zapponi scored three goals each, while Jonathan Carnevale scored two and another was added by German Brizuela. Agustin Oberti softened the blow for Camioneros.
San Lorenzo and Villa La Ñata will play their semifinal duel on Friday.
Women's Super Cup first semifinalists decided
Racing ladies secured the semifinal of the Argentine Women's Super Cup with victory over Gimnasia (LP). After the regular time ended with a 0-0 draw, Racing showed better composure during the penalties and secured their berth in the semifinal.
In the other match, Ferro defeated Secla with a convincing 6-0 result. Ferro will face Racing in the Women's Super Cup first semifinal. The Women's Super Cup will continue Today at 19:30 local time when Platense will face Independiente, and at 21:15 local time, San Lorenzo will face Avellaneda.
