The second leg of Group A of the European World Cup Qualifiers was held yesterday in Povoa do Varzim in Portugal. Italy justified the role of the favorite and defeated Belarus 5:3, however, in the second game, a complete sensation almost occurred.
Finland, that drew against Italy the day before (2:2), led 2:0 against European champions and hosts Portugal until the 39th minute! Then, Bruno Coelho realized penalty, and in the last minute Cardinal socred an equalizer and prevented a complete sensation.
After today's matches, we will find which team from Group C will qualify for the World Cup and which will proceed to the playoffs. For those two spots, three teams are competing – Croatia (6pts), Azerbaijan (3pts) and Russia (3pts).
Also, Group B will start today (Niš, Serbia), Serbia will face Ukraine, and Spain will face France.
