The 16th edition of AFC Futsal Championship that was originally scheduled to be played in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) between 26 February and 8 March 2020 was postponed on 3rd February due to coronavirus outbreak.
Few days before the competition should have started we still do not know the date of the tournament.
Coronavirus killed more than 2,600 people since its outbreak in mid-December 2019, the vast majority in China. The second most infected country is South Korea, fourth is Japan, seventh is Iran (with the most deaths after China) and eight Thailand.
All five nations are participating at AFC Futsal Championship. Therefore, it is quite uncertain when and whether this competition will take place at all.
Futsal World Cup starts in 12th September this year and Asia will have five representatives on it.
