Former long-time head coach of Croatia national futsal team Mato Stanković, joined the North Macedonian coaching staff ahead of the Futsal EURO qualifiers, as reported by sport1.mk.
>>> BREAKING: Mato Stanković is no longer Croatia national team coach!
North Macedonia opens the group qualifiers with a match against Bosnia & Herzegovina on 27 January. They will also face Romania and Serbia later in the qualifiers.
"The goal is to help take the right step in a situation when futsal in North Macedonia is at a turning point. The North Macedonian national futsal team had the best moments three or four years ago, and now we will try to return to that desired direction," said Stanković upon taking his new position.
Stanković arrived in North Macedonia on an invitation by the team's head coach Vasko Skenderovski, who believes that Stanković's knowledge and experience can benefit his team ahead of a tough qualifying group.
"We will face difficult matches in the qualifiers, we open with a match against BiH away in Zenica. At home, Bosnia & Herzegovina is always dangerous against any team, but it is an opportunity to see what our quality is at the moment," concluded Stanković.
