Russia defeats France in a five-goal thriller, Latvia thriumphs in Switzerland

After two draws in the two opening matches of Euro 2022 qualifiers Group stage, France lost at home parquet against Russia 2:3. After a goalless first half, Chishkala scored an opener in 22'. The nets were at rest until the last 8 minutes of the match. Robinho doubled Russia's lead in 33', but Mouhoudine scored the first for France in 37'. Robinho scored his second goal in 38', and N'Gala put the final score in the last minute. 

After three round Russia tops the table with a maximum amount of points, and France is in third place with 2. On 9 March, these two teams will play the second game in Schelkovo (Russia).

In Group 6, Latvia defeated Switzerland in Untersiggenthal 4:2. Babris scored an opener in 6', but Marcoyannakis equalized in 14'. In the middle of the second half, Matjušenko scored twice (29' and 33') for guests, but Gössi puts Switzerland back in the game in 37'. However, Bakalovski scored the forth for Latvia and resolved the issue of victory.

This was Latvia's first group victory, and Switzerland remains pointless after their second game. In the next round (9 March) Switzerland will host Slovenia, and Latvia will host Spain.
