Spain and Slovenia break away at top of Group 6

Two matches of Group 6 of the UEFA Futsal EURO qualifiers were played today. Spain went to play in Latvia, while Switzerland hosted Slovenia. Favorites justified their role as both Spain and Slovenia recorded victories.

Latvia 1-12 Spain

La Furia - furiously. In less than the first 100 seconds of the match, Spain scored three goals asserting their dominance. Cecilio scored two goals in the first minute of the match and Ortiz scored soon afterward.

In the 13th minute, after a beautiful passing play, Cecilio scored his third of the day to complete a hat-trick. A few minutes later, Borja was served a ball at the line, a chance he could not miss. Around this time, Latvia decided to implement a flying goalkeeper to take possession away from Spain.

But, the Spanish lead was further extended by Bebe, who scored two goals in space of few minutes. Two minutes before halftime, Matjušenko took advantage of the flying goalkeeper situation and scored for Latvia. However, this kind of tactic means that every mistake is very expensive, as shown by Raúl Gómez just before the end of the half. Spain took a giant 8-1 lead to the break.

In the second half, Latvia continued with the power play. But they couldn't stop Solano from scoring Spain's ninth goal of the match in the 26th minute of the match. Raúl Campos made it ten 10 minutes before the end. In the final stage of the match, Solano scored his second goal for Spain's eleventh goal of the evening and Pola made it twelve just a few minutes later.

12-1, a huge win for Spain, regardless.

Switzerland 1-11 Slovenia

Just like in the other match in the group, this one also started quite furiously. Alen Fetić scored after 15 seconds for the Slovenian lead at the start. But just a few moments later, Barreira equalized for Switzerland.

Nevertheless, with three fast goals in the space of few minutes, efforts by Osredkar, Čujec, and Hozjan, Slovenia broke away on three-goal advantage by the middle of the first half. Hozjan scored his second of the evening a few minutes later, followed by a goal by Totošković to further extend the Slovenian lead and to take a huge lead at the break.

Very soon in the second half, Hozjan scored his third goal of the evening, completing his hat-trick. Bot Slovenia did not stop there. Duščak scored eight goal for Slovenia in the 23rd minute, followed by a goal by Koren to make it nine. Totošković's second goal of the evening round it up to ten goals.

By the end of the match, Gajser scored the eleventh goal for Slovenia for the final result of 11-1.

In the end, Slovenia bounces back with a big win after two losses against Spain. Nevertheless, in those two games, they showed they are no pushovers and they will enjoy this big win tonight against Latvia.
