Croatia, Ukraine win as Euro qualifiers continue today

For the first time in this final qualifying cycle for the 2022 UEFA Futsal Euro, more than two matches are on the schedule today.

Before we dig into today's matches, let's take a closer look at yesterday's duels.

Albania 0-3 Croatia

With this victory, Croatia secured the top spot in the Group 1 and will qualify to the Euro as the group leader, while Albania is left without chances to qualify.

Jimbee Cartagena's Dario Marinović opened the scoring by the middle of the first half and Croatia took that lead to the break.

In the second half, Croatia's victory was confirmed by two more goals, efforts by Perić and Sekulić.

Denmark 2-6 Ukraine

Ukrainians justified their role of a favorite in a direct duel for the second spot in Group 1. Although Denmark was officially the host, the match was played in Zaporizhia, Ukraine.

Pediash put Ukraine ahead in the opening stage of the match. However, in the very same minute, Falck equalized.

Before half-time, Veis put the ball in his own net to put Ukraine again in front.

In the second half, with two goals by both Abakshyn and Fareniuk, Ukraine took a substantial lead. Zhurba scored an own goal at the very end of the match. 

Thursday's schedule

Five matches are on the schedule today! First, Slovakia will host already qualified Azerbaijan in Group 3. A positive result for Slovakia would mean a great deal for their second-place ambitions. The match will be played at 16:00 CET.

At 17:00 CET, Latvia will play Switzerland in a match of bottom two team in Group 6.

One hour later, at 18:00 CET, Ukraine will play another match against Denmark, where the Ukrainians will look to confirm that second spot in Group 1.

In Group 4, at 19:00 CET, North Macedonia will host the fairy tale of these qualifiers - Bosnia and Herzegovina. BiH team will try to continue with their maximum score, as they already qualified for the final tournament.

And lastly, the final match of the day will be played at 20:00 CET in Group 7 between Belgium and Italy. Italy already qualified, but Belgium still has everything to play for and we don't doubt that we are in for a good game of futsal!
