This week, we got a new-old champion in Slovakia. Futsal Club Lučenec is the Slovakian futsal champion for the second time in their history, although they will celebrate this one with special interest because it is the first one that was won on the court.
Due to Covid, the last season of the Slovakian futsal championship was abandoned mid-playoffs. Lučenec was then declared champion due to the number one seed, which they deserved in the league stage of the championship.
Therefore, this success comes as a confirmation of good work done by the Lučenec team. Unlike the last season, this time around, playoffs will not be played, only the league stage.
Lučenec is impressive this season and they secured their title a few matches before the end of the championship. From 12 matches played so far, they have all 12 victories.
Lučenec will represent Slovakia in the next season's UEFA Futsal Champions League! This season, Lučenec was stopped by a Russian powerhouse KPRF in the Round of 32, after defeating Latvian Petro-w in the Preliminary round.
