Spain: Levante take a big step towards the title

In yesterday's first match of the Spanish LNFS final series, Levante defeated Barcelona on penalties and took the lead in the series. Levante now has a huge chance to secure the title in front of their fans on Sunday (27 June).

The match started quite well for hosts Barcelona, as Ferrao put them in the lead in the 2' of the match after some rebounded balls in front of Levante's keeper Fede. But Levante came to Barcelona to play and Roger equalized the match in 10' with a nice effort from the left-hand side.

A few minutes later, Rafa Usin put Levante in the lead with a well-placed shot after a free-kick situation. Levante took the lead to the break.

In 27' of the match, Barca's goalkeeper Didac sent a long ball in front to Ferrao who once again showed a glimpse of his magic scoring next to the opposite post from the first touch.

We didn't see any more goals in regular time, nor in the extra time and the match went to penalties.

Once there, Levante's players showed more concentration and challenged their luck which proved enough to secure a giant victory on an away match in Barcelona.

Barcelona is definitely not without chances, but they will have a mountain to climb. Either way, we are in for a fantastic futsal spectacle this Sunday.

Levante's goalkeeper Fede said after the match that his team is "very happy because it is a prize for the hard work throughout the year. These playoffs have seen the best Levante UD. We got the first point of the series and we want to close the series on Sunday at home."

Barca's head coach Andreu Plaza felt that his team deserved more from this match: "In the second half we came out plugged and Levante barely made a shot and I don't know if it was fair to get to penalties."
