2020 should have been a futsal season filled with many spectacles. Unfortunately due to the already known reasons, many competitions were canceled or rather postponed to 2021.
In the following text, FutsalFeed brings you the dates for the most important futsal competitions in 2021. Or at least for those competitions that have been confirmed.
You can always check the entire futsal schedule in the ‘Events’ section on our website and be sure to contact us if you don’t find your competition among the confirmed futsal events.
2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup
We have to start with the World Cup, a competition that was supposed to take place last year, but it got pushed back all the way to September. The Futsal World Cup in Lithuania will take place from 12 September to 3 October 2021.
CAF (Africa), CONMEBOL (South America), OFC (Oceania), and UEFA (Europe) have already finished their qualifying tournaments to decide which teams will play at the World Cup. Unfortunately, we’re still awaiting national teams from AFC (Asia) and CONCACAF (Central & North America and Caribbean).
AFC Asian Futsal Cup
At the moments of writing this text, AFC Asian Futsal Cup (on which 5 travelers to the World Cup will be decided) should take place from 23 March to 3 April 2021. Unfortunately, last rumors suggest that this will get postponed once again. Dates suggested state that Asian Futsal Cup could be held in May. Alternatively, 5 World Cup places from the Asian continent would be decided by some data-based mechanism implemented by the AFC.
CONCACAF Futsal Championship
Similarly like with the Asian Futsal Cup, CONCACAF’s Futsal Championship, originally to be held in May of 2020 – got postponed. By now, no new official dates were set for this tournament. The top four teams from the tournament will take their place at the Futsal World Cup in Lithuania.
2022 UEFA Futsal EURO Qualifiers
The 2022 EURO will take place in the Netherlands from 19 January 2022 to 6 February 2022. The preliminary qualification rounds to the 2022 EURO already took place. In fact, even a few matches from the Main Qualifying Group Round took place earlier in December of 2020.
Nevertheless, the new qualifying group round – which for the first time includes home and away group matches – will be played out during the following dates: from 27 January to 3 February, from 2 March to 10 March and from 6 April to 14 April 2021. Final places for the 2022 EURO will be decided in a two-legged playoff from 14 to 17 November 2021.
2022 UEFA Women’s Futsal EURO
This tournament was originally supposed to take place next month, in February of 2021, but like everything else – it got postponed. The second edition of this tournament will again include only the four best teams of the ‘Old Continent’, but the Preliminary Qualifying Round will take place from 4 to 9 May 2021.
The Main Qualifying Round will take place from 19 to 24 October of 2021, while the EURO itself will be played from 24 to 27 March of 2022.
2021 UEFA Under-19 Futsal EURO
Besides the fact that this tournament will take place between 1 and 7 November (some sources say that it starts on 31 October, though!) – we don’t know anything else for sure.
Lithuania is the host of this Under-19 Futsal EURO tournament and they will be joined by seven more teams. Preliminary (if required) and Main Qualifying Round was supposed to be held by end of March 2021. Those dates got postponed – but by the time of writing this text, we still don’t know when exactly will the qualifying stages be played.
UEFA Futsal Champions League
We’re expecting the continuation of Europe’s most prestigious futsal club tournament quite soon! The preliminary round has been played and the Round of 32 is on schedule from 15 to 16 January 2021. Currently, all matches are played in a single-leg fashion.
Futsal Champions League Round of 16 will take place from 16 to 21 February 2021 and the draw will take place on 21 January.
The rest of the competition will be played in April and May, but concrete dates are yet to be decided.
CONMEBOL Libertadores Futsal
2020 edition of Futsal Libertadores was canceled and moved for one year. Libertadores for men will take place in Uruguay from 1 to 8 May of 2021.
The Futsal Libertadores for women will take place from 5 to 12 September in Bolivia.

AFC Futsal Club Championship
The annual continental club tournament for best Asian teams will be hosted by the United Arab Emirates. The last edition was canceled due to the pandemic, and although the AFC Asian Futsal Cup is still not 100% secure to take place – dates for the 2021 AFC Futsal Club Championship have been set.
16 teams will decide the best Asian club team in a tournament from 14 to 25 July 2021. Unless Covid decides differently.
