Sporting and Barcelona will play in the 2020/21 UEFA Futsal Champions League Finals. The final match will be played on Monday 3 May in Zadar's sports hall Krešimir Ćosić.
In the first match, Sporting defeated Inter 5:2 in a match decided in the second half reaching their fourth final in the last five years.
"I’m lost for words about my team! After we beat the Russian champions, now we have beaten the Spanish champions. I’m proud to see the spirit of these players especially the players who have never been in such a competition before. It would be excellent if we can do it again like in Almaty. Indeed, we haven’t lost for more than a year but what happened in Almaty is past, said Nuno Dias, Sporting's coach after the match.
Inter played a great tournament but they couldn't pass to the finals. Inter's coach Tino Perez was satisfied by his team's performance:
I want to say a few words of pride about my players, they had everything during the game. Although things have not gone well, they gave their all. We leave with our heads high after this experience. In terms of the result, it is a failure, but as a coach, it is a success because we played much better than our opponents. Yes, they did have more success in some aspects. These are things that we have to learn. I am happy because we are looking like the team I want.
The second match of the day was a great spectacle as well. Barcelona beat Kairat 3:2 in a thrilling match.
Firstly I'd like to congratulate Kairat on a great match but also congratulate my team. They did a great job, they concentrated well, we controlled the game throughout and our defence was very good except in the second goal, said Andreu Plaza, Barca's head coach.
The hero of the match was a magnificant Ferrao who scored a hattrick!
We spoke before the game and we expected a physical match. We did not concede anything to them. We were intense in defence and we deserved to win. We knew we had to concentrate, we did that and we deserve to be in the final, said Ferrao to the press after the game.
The coach of the defeated team Kaká praised the performance of a young goalkeeper Serikov who substitute suspended Higuita.
If we analyse the possession, in 4 vs 4 Barça had more control of the ball, at 5 vs 4 then we had more possession. In terms of chances, it was an equal game. Narun Serikov did not make any special saves, but what he did was he just did his job."
