El Salvador 2-1 Cuba
Just like with the first day of the competition, Tuesday matches opened with Group D duels. El Salvador has recorded a very significant victory against favored Cuba.
This was El Salvador's first-ever victory in this competition. Cuba took the lead when Ricardo Castillo scored in the first half for the lead. But after the break, Alan Solis and David Sandoval secured the victory for El Salvador.
Cuba is now left without chances to qualify for the next round.
Nicaragua 2-4 United States
Jeremy Klepal and Eduardo Buenfil scored for the United States' putting their team in the lead in the first half. Klepal extended the lead in the second half, after a fantastic assist by Reget.
Bryan Corea and Patrick Luna then scored for Nicaragua to put their team back into the mix, but thanks to Tomas Pondeca's header on an empty net, United States recorded a very important victory that sees them qualify for the second round from Group D.
Mexico 4-5 Suriname
An incredible Suriname's comeback in Group B was rewarded with their second victory in the history of this competition.
Cesar Paniagua, Daniel Soltero, and Abraham Atri all scored in the first half for a big 3-0 Mexico lead and it seemed that El Tricolor was cruising.
However, one of the reasons why futsal is the best sport on Earth is that you have to stay focused for the entire 40 minutes. Vangellino Sastromedjo, Gillian Maatrijk, and Nazario Doesburg all scored for Suriname before half-time, making it 3-3 at the break.
Eddie Sanchez then scored an own goal putting Suriname in front, but Paniagua equalized for Mexico shortly after.
A late goal by Roche Pita sealed the victory for Suriname, which they duly celebrated.
Canada 4-2 Haiti
Canada's debut in Group C was one to remember as they have made a comeback win against Haiti after trailing two goals for some time.
Bernick Monfort and Mitchell Syla gave Haiti a 2-0 halftime lead. But it was not enough, as Canada pushed hard in the second half, scoring four goals in the process. The goals were scored by Damion Graham, Ian Bennett, Safwane Mlah, and Bila Diko-Raynauld.
As Haiti lost both their matches, they are eliminated from the competition. Later today, Canada and Costa Rica will decide in a direct duel who qualifies to the second stage from 1st position, and who from 2nd in Group C.
Trinidad & Tobago 2-6 Dominican Republic
In their second match on their first-ever CFC, Dominican Republic recorded a big victory against Trinidad & Tobago that just might see them through to the second round from Group A.
Marco Gomez was the star of the evening, scoring a hat trick in the process. Ricardo Alvarez, Guillermo Lopez, and Marselle Cestero scored to confirm the Dominican Republic's victory.
On the other side, Jameel Neptune and Keston George scored for Trinidad & Tobago but it was not enough. Trinidad & Tobago now needs to beat Guatemala in the last duel of the group with more than 6 goals difference to qualify to the next round.
The CFC continues later today with Day 3 matches that will decide all travelers to the second stage, or simply put, the quarterfinals.
