(HIGHLIGHTS) Futsal Libertadores First Quarterfinalists Known

Day 2 of the Futsal Libertadores is behind us as deciding matches in all groups are about to kick off. But before they do, make sure to check all of the highlights from yesterday and get up to speed with the situation in groups before the knock-out phase, as some teams already qualified for the quarter-finals!

Universitario 4-2 Sportiva Bocca

In an interesting match, Bocca opened the scoring thanks to a goal by Jordan Jose Mercado, but Universitario equalized soon after thanks to a goal by Manuel Millares. Still in the first half, Bocca took their second lead of the day, thanks to an effort by Richard Henderson Gutierrez.

However, from then on it was only Universitario on the scoresheet. Jorge Aguilar equalized before the break and in the second half, Angello Paipay put Universitario in front. Aguilar confirmed three points for Universitario later in the match.

Carlos Barbosa 1-0 San Lorenzo

A match that was dubbed the Group A derby between Brazilian Carlos Barbosa and Argentine San Lorenzo. It ended in a very unusual futsal result of just 1-0 for the Brazilians.

The sole scorer of the match was Richard Murilo in the first half. With this victory, Carlos Barbosa secured the Libertadores quarterfinal, while San Lorenzo and Universitario will decide on the second traveler later today.

Corinthians 9-1 Proyecto Latin

A blowout victory, and currently the biggest win in this year's tournament was recorded by Corinthians who defeated Proyecto Latin, representatives of Bolivia, and qualified for the quarterfinals.

Jackson twice, with Guilherme, Fernando, Tatinho, Deives, Jefferson, Rabisco, and Eder Lima scored for Corinthians, while Alan Daniel Valda scored a consolation goal for Proyecto Latin.

Peñarol 0-3 Delta Te Quiero

Venezuelan champions Delta Te Quiero recorded a very important win against hosts Peñarol. With their goals, Jorge Preciado, Carlos Jiménez and Wilmer Ronaldo Cabarcas secured the quarterfinal for Delta Te Quiero.

They will face Corinthians later today for the first position in Group B.

Cerro Porteño 4-1 Universidad de Chile

One of the teams that also qualified for the quarterfinals is Paraguayan champions Cerro Porteño. They managed to do so with a victory against Universidad de Chile.

Enmanuel Ayala, Francisco Martínez, Enmanuel Ayala and Agustin Cafure scored for Cerro Porteño, while Frank Jordan Carrasco scored to sole goal for Universidad.

Alianza Platanera 3-1 Nacional

Alianza Platanera was victorious against one of the host teams, Nacional, and with this victory, they have secured a spot in the quarterfinals!

Jeison Padilla, Jefferson Moreno and Daniel Gallego scored for Alianza Platanera, while Joaquin Varietti scored for Nacional.

Futsal Libertadores continues today with six more matches that will decide all travelers to the quarterfinal stage. We remind you first two teams in each group progress through, while the two best third-placed teams will join them as well.
