The best European futsal league has almost reached its semifinal stage in the championship playoffs. Only almost though, because just one team managed to punch its way through to the semifinals in two matches. That team is Levante, while others will decide their faith later today and tomorrow.
>>> Spain: Playoff quarterfinal kicks off with 30 goals
Two deciding matches are on the schedule today. ElPozo Murcia will host Valdepeñas, while Palma Futsal will play against Zaragoza. Matches will be played at 20:30 local time. Barcelona's match against Inter is on schedule tomorrow (20:00 local time).
Levante UD 2-1 Jimbee Cartagena
Levante UD FS are the only ones who already booked their place in the semifinals. After a big 5-1 victory while traveling to Cartagena, Levante recorded another victory, but one that was confirmed with less than 30 seconds left on the clock.
Esteban scored for Levante's lead in the first half and the teams took that result to the break. We waited a long time for another goal and it came only in 39'. Croatian international Dario Marinović equalized Jimbee Cartagena from the penalty kick after Maxi Rescia handballed in the box.
However, Levante implemented the flying goalkeeper to try to find a winning goal in the last minute and their efforts were rewarded thanks to a goal by Rafa Usin.
Futbol Emotion Zaragoza 3-2 Palma Futsal
In the first leg, Palma Futsal recorded a big 8-2 victory against Zaragoza, but this time the team from Aragon came out to play.
Hosts opened the match in a good way for them, with Juanqui scoring in 4' for the lead. However, some small ten minutes later, Raul Campos equalized the score and this result held until half-time.
Raul Campos was again in the center of attention when his goal turned things around and put Palma Futsal in front. Nevertheless, the fighting Zaragoza did not surrender as Dian Luka and Santi Basile scored two goals in space of few last minutes to secure them the deciding third match against Palma Futsal.
Viña Albali Valdepeñas 1-0 ElPozo Murcia Costa Cálida
An untypical futsal match was played between Valdepeñas and ElPozo Murcia that saw only one goal. But maybe that doesn't have to be a surprise as the stakes are quite high and both teams had to play securely in the back.
The only goal of the match was an own goal by Murcia's Alberto Garcia who was forced to concede a goal in his own net.
Of course, by the end of the match, both teams had some great goal-scoring opportunities, but both goalkeepers decided that they will not concede a goal today through a fault of their own.
Inter FS 3-4(p) Barça
After Inter's initial victory in Barcelona in the first leg, Barça now defeated Inter in their home venue to take the series to the deciding third match.
Andre Coelho's goal for Barcelona in 15' of the match was the only one we saw in the first half. Boyis leveled the match soon after the restart, but Marcenio scored for another Barça's lead just a few minutes later.
Fer Drasler scored for Inter to set the final result in the regular time as the match entered extra-time.
Of course, it couldn't end without more drama. Aicardo for Barcelona and Pito for Inter scored in the same minute to add more excitement, but in the end, both teams had to settle for the penalty shoot-out.
After the fifth series, the advantage was on Barcelona's side and the Catalan team secured the third and deciding match in its own venue.
