By the end of the first half, Benfica managed to equalize through Robinho and another goal by Hossein Tayebi.

In the second half, Taynan scored two more goals for Sporting, completing his hat-trick in the process. This called for an all-out attack from Benfica, but their efforts were rewarded. Arthur and Jacare scored to level the match with more than 5 minutes to go, but we didn't see any more goals in the regular time.

In extra time, Benfica finally managed to take a more substantial lead and managed to hold it until the end. Tiago Brito and Fabio Cecilio were the scorers which tied the final series.
